What quote levelling is
Quote levelling is the industry name for pricing every quote for the same work before you compare them. The total on paper is what the quote prints, before VAT. The levelled total adds a price for every item the quote leaves out or excludes, so every total covers the same work. You choose the price for each gap: the lowest another quote gives (the usual choice, and the default), the average of the others, or your own figure. The cheapest quote on paper is often not the cheapest levelled.
How it reads
Written rules in your browser, not AI. SUBR's AI does this reading for real. It reads the amount at the end of each line and puts the line under the package item it names, such as access, preparation or testing. A line that says an item is excluded or by others marks that item excluded. It knows the usual items of a coatings and fire protection package. No line is dropped: a priced line that names none of them is listed as not matched and counted in the total on paper, and you can move any line to any item.
Where SUBR comes in
In SUBR, you can offer one scope to several subcontractors, and each answers the same scope on their own link, so every price you get back is for the same work.
Questions
What is quote levelling?
Quote levelling means pricing every quote for the same work before you compare them. Line the quotes up item by item, and where one leaves an item out or excludes it, add a fair price for it, such as the lowest another firm gives. Then compare the levelled totals.
How do I compare subcontractor quotes fairly?
Line them up item by item for the same scope. Where a quote leaves an item out, add a price for it, such as the lowest another firm gives, so every total covers the same work. Then compare the totals.
What does like for like mean when comparing quotes?
Two quotes are like for like when they price the same work to the same standard. A quote that is cheaper because it leaves out access or testing is not cheaper: someone still pays for those.
Where the figures come from
Every number this tool works with is one you enter. It uses no outside rate, threshold or date, so there is nothing to look up.
